On October 13th 2020 through a virtual event Apple launched their new iPhone 12 series . From all those iPhone the newly launched iPhone 12 Pro Max is the most advanced smartphone launched by Apple yet. The Pro Max series is the series where apple goes maxed out and puts everything they can to make it a great smartphone, that is why it is much more expensive than the other iPhones. According to the different sources iPhone 12 series might be launching very soon in Nepal in January. As always 1 year insurance will be provided on the all iPhones.

Design:

Compare to the cheaper iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini the pro max comes with an much more premium stainless steel frame . Apple has also put in a Ceramic Shield which they claim is tougher than any other smartphone glass. That is why the pro models feels much premium than the other normal models. iPhone 12 Pro Max comes in different colors like Silver, Gold, Graphite and Pacific Blue. Apple has brought the design from its decade old iPhone 4. On the side the iPhone 12 Pro Max has flat edge . However the display still has the big notch which houses the front camera and all the sensors for Face ID and it still also has curved edges and rounded corners. The phone is IP68 water and dust resistance.

Display:

The iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with an 6.7 inches super retina XDR display with a resolution of around 2778 x 1284 pixels with a pixel density of around 458 pixels per inch. The brightness goes up-to 1200 nits so outdoors visibility is great. The viewing angle color reproduction everything is great. The only downside of the display is it only has a 60hz refresh rate while now a days even a budget phone are providing at least 90hz display. Similarly the display also supports HDR 10 contents, Wide P3 Color Gamut and Dolby Vision. So apart from the refresh rate the display here is top notch.

Performance:

As always the newly released A14 Bionic is the most powerful mobile chip in the world. It is based on 5 nanometer process which is the first in the market. Apple claims over 50 % performance boost over any competitors in the market. So performance is not an issue for the iPhone. It can run everything that is available in the market. This A14 chip is so powerful that for the upcoming 3-4 yrs no matter what we threw at it this phone can run anything smoothly without any issue. A14 also brings new ISP powers and more AI features. Similarly , Apple has finally brought 5G in their iPhones. The A14 bionic has a dedicated custom 5G modem which Apple claims that it supports widest range of 5G bands among any smartphones. So we can expect better download and upload speeds.

Cameras:

Talking about the cameras, we get a triple camera setup on the back including the new Lidar Sensor. The 12 MP primary sensor has a got a huge upgrade over the last generation. The sensor size as well as the pixel size has been increased by 47% which drastically increases the amount of light that will be gathered in the camera. Along with the new OIS which stabilizes the sensor instead of lens helps to capture better images in low light. Apple claims the new iPhone 12 Pro Max can captures 87% better images in low light. The secondary is an 65mm telephoto camera which has a 5x optical zoom, that means we can get a great image quality even when we zoom in. The third one is an 12 MP ultrawide camera which helps to capture ultra wide angles shots. This the first time we are getting night mode on all three cameras on the iPhone. So, along with the new powerful ISP and improved deep fusion technology along with improved night mode we can expect the new iPhone Pro Max to capture one of the best photos. Other Features:

The new iPhones supports 20w fast charging but we have to buy it separately. Rather Apple has introduced Mag safe which is a wireless charger (15W). Coming to the battery, we get a decent 3687 Mah battery. Due to the power efficient processor and a well optimized software we can expect a good battery life.

iPhone 12 Pro Max Price in Nepal is likely to be around Rs. 170,000. iPhone 12 Pro Max will probably launch in January 2021. The phone might not be available here in Nepal for some months but one can find a third-party distributor from sites like Hamrobazar.
